In short
- Only upload performances and media you created or have permission to use β including the music.
- Rights holders can submit a takedown notice; we act on valid notices promptly.
- Uploaders can file a counter-notice if they believe a removal was a mistake.
- Repeat infringers lose their upload privileges, and may lose their account.
Respecting creators
Performing arts thrive on creative work β choreography, compositions, arrangements, scripts and recordings. MyRhythm respects the intellectual property rights of creators and expects every member to do the same.
Copyright protects original works automatically. You do not need to see a Β© symbol for a work to be protected.
What you promise when you upload
By uploading content to MyRhythm, you confirm that:
- You created the content, or you hold the necessary permissions, licences or consents for every element in it β including music, choreography where protected, backing tracks and images.
- You have the consent of every identifiable person in the recording (and parental consent for anyone under 18).
- The content does not infringe any third party's copyright, trademark, moral rights or other rights.
Music in performances
A dance or performance video contains two layers of rights: the performance itself and the underlying music. Even if the performance is yours, the music usually is not.
Where possible, use royalty-free, licensed or original music. MyRhythm may mute, restrict or remove content where a rights holder notifies us that music is used without permission.
Submitting a takedown notice
If you believe content on MyRhythm infringes your copyright, email info@myrhythm.io with the subject line "Copyright takedown" and include:
- Your name, contact details and your relationship to the work (owner or authorised agent).
- A description of the work you claim is infringed, and where the original can be verified.
- A link or clear identification of the content on MyRhythm.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorised, and that the information in your notice is accurate.
What happens next
We acknowledge valid notices within 2 business days. Where a notice is complete, we remove or disable access to the content promptly and notify the uploader, including the reason and how to respond.
For content involving minors we err on the side of removal while a notice is assessed.
Counter-notices
If your content was removed and you believe this was a mistake β for example you hold a licence, or the use is permitted β reply to the removal notice with your reasons and supporting evidence.
We review counter-notices and may restore content where the claim is resolved in the uploader's favour or the complainant withdraws.
Repeat infringers
Members who repeatedly upload infringing content lose upload privileges. Continued infringement leads to account suspension or termination, in line with the Terms of Use and Acceptable Use & Community Standards.
Fair use and honest mistakes
Some uses may be permitted by law (such as certain criticism, review or educational uses, depending on your country). If you are unsure whether you may use something, get permission first β or choose material you know is cleared.
Version history
We give members at least 30 daysβ notice before a material change takes effect.
